Picasso immersive digital exhibition at Museum of Art + Light
The Museum of Art + Light (MoA+L) (Manhattan, KS) presents the United States debut of Picasso: Art in Motion, a landmark immersive exhibition exploring the life and work of Pablo Picasso, opening to the public May 3, 2026. Produced in agreement with the Picasso Administration, the exhibition positions the museum—and the heart of the country—as a national stage for innovative, technology-driven approaches to modern art. Through large-scale projections, film, and digital environments, Picasso: Art in Motion offers a dynamic reinterpretation of one of the twentieth century’s most influential artists, anchoring a broader season of exhibitions that foreground the intersection of fine art and immersive media.
Presented in the museum’s 21,500-square-foot Mezmereyz immersive gallery, Picasso: Art in Motion transforms the work of Pablo Picasso into a 40 minute, fully enveloping, multisensory experience. This hypnotic integration of light, sound, scale, and motion—powered by 108 projectors, 37,000 linear feet of projection surface, and more than 188 million pixels—allows visitors to step inside Picasso’s ever-evolving creative universe.
This exhibition traces the artist’s relentless reinvention across painting, sculpture, ceramics, and design. From the energy of Parisian cabarets to the emotional force of Guernica and the revolutionary forms of Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Picasso’s work unfolds as a living, breathing environment—reimagined through the language of contemporary digital art.
In dialogue with this immersive experience, the museum will also present Picasso on Paper, an exhibition that turns toward the origin of Picasso’s restless creativity: the printed line. Offering a quieter, more intimate encounter, the exhibition highlights the artist’s work in etching, lithography, and linocut—where line becomes an act of experimentation, repetition, and transformation. Across themes of artists and models, mythological figures, bullfights, and the human form, visitors encounter Picasso’s process at its most immediate and human scale, revealing the gesture behind the image.
Together, Picasso: Art in Motion and Picasso on Paper offer a rare opportunity to experience both the monumental and the intimate dimensions of Picasso’s practice—bringing audiences closer to the full breadth of his creative vision through complementary forms of engagement.
More broadly, Picasso: Art in Motion serves as the gateway to a season of exhibitions that explore how art evolves across time and technology.
Visitors will encounter Interference: The Interactive Art of Daniel Rozin (April 15–September 27, 2026), a career-spanning exhibition of pioneering interactive works that respond to the presence and movement of the viewer, dissolving the boundary between observer and image. Through kinetic systems and custom-built technologies, Rozin’s installations reveal the mechanics of perception in real time.
Also on view is EMULATION: Selections from the Art Blocks 500 (March 4–August 16, 2026), an exhibition examining generative art as a contemporary practice rooted in code, authorship, and transformation. Featuring internationally recognized artists, the exhibition highlights how algorithms can serve as creative tools—producing dynamic works that evolve beyond the artist’s hand while remaining deeply intentional.
Together, these exhibitions position the Museum of Art + Light at the forefront of a global conversation—connecting Picasso’s radical 20th-century innovations with today’s most forward-thinking digital and interactive practices. Nowhere else this summer can visitors move so seamlessly between immersive environments, works on paper, interactive installations, generative art, and a growing permanent collection to experience the range of what an artist’s vision—and artistic practice more broadly—can encompass.
The season will be celebrated with the museum’s opening gala, “Midnight in Málaga,” on May 2, 2026, offering guests an exclusive first look at Picasso: Art in Motion alongside the museum’s full slate of exhibitions. The exhibition will open to the public on May 3, 2026, and remain on view through November 2, 2026.
