Art, Beats + Lyrics touring America for 17th year

Art, Beats + Lyrics, the national art and music tour presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey and curated by Cult Creative, is back for its 17th year, and has added new cities to its illustrious line-up. Launched by Cult Creative in 2004 as a local art show in Atlanta, Art, Beats + Lyrics provides a platform to celebrate art and hip-hop culture.

Returning from a small hiatus, this year’s showcase invites art and culture enthusiasts to come celebrate at its pop-up exhibits for its post-pandemic program.

“Art, Beats + Lyrics merges together two things that have the unique ability to connect people of all cultures, ages, and ethnicities: music and art, ” Fabricia da Silva, Multicultural Marketing Manager, Brown-Forman, said. “And, after such an unpredictable year, we all deserve a celebration that highlights strength, inspiration, and that moves the culture forward. This is the very essence of Art, Beats + Lyrics, and we are thrilled to bring that celebration back this year.”

Art, Beats + Lyrics has been historically embedded in the community, specifically uniting and providing a national platform for upcoming and seasoned veterans from both the visual art and hip-hop sphere.

Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences across space and time. Research has shown art affects the fundamental sense of self. Painting, sculpture and music are often considered to be the repository of a society’s collective memory. Art preserves what fact-based historical records cannot: how it felt to exist in a particular place at a particular time.

Art is a form of communication; it allows people from different cultures and different times to communicate with each other via images, sounds and stories, and is often a vehicle for social change. It can give voice to the politically or socially disenfranchised, and inspire them to rally for change.

The 2021 tour will exclusively toast to the program’s years of authentic artistry by visiting eight cities across the country, which include five first-time locations. The 2021 tour stops include Miami, Dallas, Seattle, Los Angeles, Cleveland, New York City, Philadelphia, and Detroit. Attendees will be invited to interact, celebrate, enjoy art from over 50 visual artists from across the country, and special musical performances from national recording artists, all while enjoying signature Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey cocktails.

“The 2021 exhibit won’t disappoint,” Art, Beats + Lyrics curator Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright said. “You can expect new, innovative installations with artists leveraging their creative talents to showcase not only the intersection between hip-hop music and visual art, but also using their craft to highlight activism, promote social justice and to capture history.”
