“The Real Surreal” exhibition curated by @marc “The Real Surreal” exhibition curated by @marcelkatzart @theartplug wrapping up at @theconfidante in @miamiandbeaches. Get there before it closes.

Highlight is Salvador Dali’s large-scale bronze “Saint George and the Dragon” sculpture, number 7 of 7, once residing in the Vatican, $1.3M.

Featured in hotel lobby are paintings by @grabster and @tiagomagro.

I was blown away by her painting at @elespacio23 (last picture behind floor installation) and then I saw her work again at @pamm. Same sensation.

The dynamic color and aggressive paint handling brought me in, the painting’s turmoil and depth kept me around. Brilliant artist I will not forget.

Who’s seen this lady at @metmuseum?

Sargent painted my favorite portrait, ‘Madame X,’ the painting highlighted by the the most dramatic permanent install in any American art museum I’ve seen, ‘El Jaleo’ at @gardnermuseum, and for a long time my favorite paintng at my local art museum, ‘In the Alps’ at @cummermuseum.

One mark of a brilliant artist is an individual style instantly recognizable from 50 yards away. Thomas has that and more.

A gnarly, charcoal-y, rough, cracked, physical. black, feast of a painting for anyone fascinated by surfaces as I am.
