Erin Hanson follows in footsteps of Impressionists for new collection

Painter Erin Hanson embarked on a transformative journey through France, following in the footsteps of two of the most beloved Impressionists whose works have profoundly influenced Hanson’s love of art and impressionism for decades. As a result of this inspiring journey, Hanson has created a new collection titled “Reflections of the Seine: Inspirations from France,” a special love letter to the artists who first inspired her in her formative years.

Beginning her adventure in the heart of Paris, Hanson immersed herself in the same parks and landscapes that inspired early masters. She then embarked on a scenic riverboat tour along the Seine River, stopping at iconic destinations such as Giverny, where Monet’s Garden blooms in timeless splendor, and Rouen, immortalized by Monet’s brushstrokes on its cathedral.

Continuing her voyage along the picturesque Normandy coast, Hanson marveled at the coastal Le Havre and cliffs of Etretat, capturing their breathtaking beauty. Her journey south led her to the vineyards of Bordeaux, where she was entranced by the very water lily farm that supplied Monet’s famed gardens, still flourishing with hundreds of vibrant varieties.

Venturing eastward into Provence, Hanson explored the landscapes that inspired van Gogh in Arles and Saint-Remy-de-Provence, where she visited the very room where he created some of his most famous works. In Aix-en-Provence, she stood in the footsteps of Cezanne, admiring the mountain immortalized in his paintings. Her journey concluded amidst the warm Mediterranean winds of the French Riviera, where she captured the essence of the region’s vibrant hues and took in views famously painted by Monet and Renoir over a hundred years ago.

Throughout her travels, Hanson awakened before dawn to capture the golden and sunset hours, infusing her paintings with the same ethereal light that inspired the Impressionists.

Hanson will unveil a collection of paintings inspired by this journey on Saturday, September 14th, at her gallery/studio in the heart of Oregon wine country. She invites art enthusiasts to come experience firsthand the culmination of her inspiring expedition.
